Maddalena Ripa (UAB) represented MAGIC at the First Meeting of the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E), hosted on 17-18 May 2017 by the European Commission DG Research & Innovation in Brussels. The objective of this first EMP-E meeting was to provide a peer-reviewed digest of model and policy insights for European energy scenario projects. Key themes highlighted in the meeting were the ‘energy union’, ‘GHG mitigation targets’, ‘transparency’, ‘scenario definitions’ and the ‘SET Plan’. More details on the event are available here.

The EMP-E aims to initiate a long-term forum for exchanging research, development and practice of energy system modelling in Europe and, where feasible, promote the sharing of data and resources and improve the efficiency of research in the area. The EMP-E fulfils a recommendation of the Horizon 2020 Advisory Group for Energy to set up a European forum for energy modelling.

Maddalena's presentation, entitled "The ambitious task of setting policy targets for energy efficiency: a multi-scale analysis of societal metabolism", is available in streaming, and the powerpoint can be downloaded from our document repository.
